Inkwell Data / Ready for Xero

Get your contacts ready for Xero

Turn a customer or supplier list into a file Xero imports without errors: Xero's own column names, a unique contact name on every row, emails checked, phone numbers spaced the way Xero asks, and big lists split into files of 1,000.

How it works

Add your file and we match it to Xero's contact columns: ContactName, AccountNumber, EmailAddress, FirstName, LastName, postal address, phone, mobile, website and tax number. If you have first and last name columns but no contact name, they are combined, and repeated names are numbered so each is unique.

In Xero, go to Contacts → All contacts, open the menu at the top right and choose Import. Imported contacts can be archived but not deleted, so try a small file first.

Questions

Why are some names numbered?

Xero needs every contact name to be unique, so a second "Acme Ltd" becomes "Acme Ltd (2)". Rename them in Xero later if you like.

Is this an official Xero tool?

No. It is an independent free tool that follows Xero's published contact import guide. Xero shows a review step before anything is added.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is read by your own browser and reshaped on your device.
