Inkwell Data / Ready for Outlook

Get your contacts ready for Outlook

Outlook matches columns by name, so a spreadsheet with its own headings imports half-empty. This writes the column names Outlook uses itself, like "E-mail Address" and "Business City", so every field lands where it should.

How it works

Add your file and we match it to Outlook's contact fields: names, email, mobile, business and home phone, company, job title, business address, web page, birthday, categories and notes. A single Name column is split into first and last.

The file is saved as UTF-8 CSV, which Outlook asks for. In Outlook, open People → Import contacts, browse to the file and import.

Questions

Does it work with Outlook.com and Microsoft 365?

Yes. It uses the same column names Outlook writes when it exports contacts, which the importer in new Outlook, Outlook.com and classic Outlook all recognize.

Is this an official Microsoft tool?

No. It is an independent free tool. Outlook shows the imported contacts straight away, so check a few after importing.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is read by your own browser and reshaped on your device.
