Clean messy data
Fix the usual mess in one pass: stray spaces, inconsistent headers, "N/A" and "NULL" placeholders, empty rows and columns, invisible characters and curly quotes.
How it works
Add a file, tick the fixes you want, and click Clean. You'll see exactly how many cells, rows and columns were changed, plus a preview of the result, before you download it in the format you need.
Every fix is optional. Nothing changes the meaning of your data unless you ask it to: for example, changing letter case is off by default.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your file is read by your own browser and processed on your device. There is no server receiving your data, no account, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
What counts as a placeholder value?
Cells that contain only NULL, null, N/A, n/a, NA, #N/A, NaN, None, nil or a single dash. These are turned into true blanks so other tools treat them as missing.
What does "standardize headers" do?
It turns column names like "Customer Name " or "Order-Date" into consistent names. snake_case gives customer_name and order_date, which work well in SQL and code. Title Case gives Customer Name and Order Date.
What are invisible characters?
Zero-width spaces, non-breaking spaces, byte-order marks and control characters often sneak in from web pages and PDFs. They make values look identical but fail to match. Cleaning removes them.
Will cleaning change my numbers?
No. Cleaning works on text and whitespace. Numbers, dates and IDs are left as they are, apart from removing surrounding spaces if you choose to.
