Inkwell Data / Ready for Mailchimp

Get your contacts ready for Mailchimp

Turn a messy contact list from a CRM, a sign-up sheet or an old email tool into a clean Mailchimp import file. Emails are tidied and checked, duplicates removed, full names split into first and last, and birthdays put into the MM/DD format Mailchimp expects.

How it works

Add your file and we match its columns to Mailchimp's fields: Email Address, First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Company, Address, Birthday and Tags. If you only have a single Name column, we split it for you, and separate street, city, state and ZIP columns are combined into one address the way Mailchimp wants.

In Mailchimp, go to Audience → Add contacts → Import contacts, upload the file and match the columns when asked. Only import people who agreed to hear from you.

Questions

What does Mailchimp require?

Only an email address. Every other field is optional, and rows without a valid email are listed so you can fix them.

How are tags handled?

Put all of a contact's tags in one Tags column, separated by commas, and Mailchimp applies them during import.

Is this an official Mailchimp tool?

No. It is an independent free tool that follows Mailchimp's published import guidelines. Mailchimp shows a final review before anything is added.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is read by your own browser and reshaped on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to Mailchimp.
