Inkwell Data / File converter / Excel to JSON
Convert Excel to JSON
Turn a sheet from an Excel workbook into a JSON array of records, one object per row.
How it works
The first row of the sheet becomes the field names. Numbers and true/false values are typed, dates come out as ISO dates, and you can switch sheets before converting.
Drop your Excel file above, check the preview, and click Convert & download. JSON is already selected, but you can pick any other format from the list.

Questions
Which row is used for field names?
The first non-empty row of the sheet. Blank or duplicate header names are given safe names like column_3 or Email_2.
How are dates written?
As ISO text, for example 2026-03-14, or a full timestamp when the cell holds a time.
Can I convert every sheet?
One sheet at a time. Use the Sheet picker to choose, download, then switch to the next.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens in your own browser. There is no server receiving your data, no account and no daily limit.
