Inkwell Data / File converter / PDF to Excel

Convert PDF tables to Excel

Get the table out of a PDF bank statement, invoice, price list or report and into Excel, without retyping it. Columns are worked out from the layout, headers repeated on every page are removed, and titles and page numbers are left out.

How it works

Drop a PDF and check the preview: each row of the table becomes a row, and each column lines up from the way the page is laid out. Click Convert & download for Excel, or pick another format.

Need to tidy it first? Use Keep going to send it to Transform (for example to turn "$1,200.50" into numbers or split a description column) or Summarize.

Questions

Which PDFs work?

PDFs with real text, like bank and card statements, invoices, price lists and reports exported from software. Scanned pages are pictures of text, so there is nothing to read; those need OCR first.

What if the columns come out wrong?

Open File looks wrong? under the file name. You can read the PDF as lines of text instead, then use Transform's Split a column or Pull out amounts and dates steps to shape it.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is read by your own browser. Bank statements and invoices never leave your device, and nothing is stored.
