Inkwell Data / File converter / CSV to Excel
Convert CSV to Excel
Turn a CSV file into a real Excel workbook (.xlsx) with a bold, frozen header row, filters switched on and sensible column widths.
How it works
Excel guesses at CSV contents when you double-click one, which turns ZIP codes like 02134 into 2134 and long IDs into scientific notation. Converting here keeps those values exactly as they are, while real numbers still arrive as numbers you can sum.
Drop your CSV file above, check the preview, and click Convert & download. Excel is already selected, but you can pick any other format from the list.

Questions
Will my leading zeros survive?
Yes. Values like 00123 or 02134 are written as text, so Excel shows them exactly as they were. Columns where every value is a plain number are written as numbers.
Can I convert a semicolon or tab separated file?
Yes. The separator is detected automatically, so files exported from European versions of Excel (semicolons) and TSV files both work.
Is there a row limit?
Excel itself allows 1,048,576 rows per sheet. Within that, the limit is your device's memory; files with a few hundred thousand rows convert in seconds on a typical laptop.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens in your own browser. There is no server receiving your data, no account and no daily limit.
