What to put on an invoice
A clear invoice gets paid faster. The generator has a place for each of these:
- Your business details — name, address, email, and your logo.
- Your client's details — who you're billing and where.
- A unique invoice number — so you and your client can refer to it.
- Issue date and due date — make the payment deadline obvious.
- Itemized line items — what you did or sold, quantity and rate.
- Tax and any discount — shown separately from the subtotal.
- The total amount due — in the right currency.
- How to pay — bank transfer, check, or a payment link.
Sending an estimate first? Switch to Quote and the document shows "Quote total" and "Valid until" instead of a due date.

Frequently asked questions
Is the invoice generator really free?
Yes. You can create and download as many invoices and quotes as you like at no cost. A small "Made with Inkwell PDF" line appears at the bottom of each page; your numbers and totals are never watermarked.
Do I need an account?
No. Fill in the form and download the PDF without signing up. A free account is only needed if you want to save the invoice and keep working on it later.
Where is my information stored?
In your own browser. The form saves as you type so a refresh does not lose your work, but nothing is uploaded to a server unless you choose to save the invoice to an account.
Can I make a quote or estimate instead of an invoice?
Yes. Switch the document type to Quote and the wording changes to match: "Quote total" and "Valid until" instead of "Balance due" and "Due date".
Can I email the invoice and get paid online?
With Inkwell PDF Pro you can email invoices or share a private link, see when a client opens it, send automatic payment reminders, set up recurring invoices, and add a Pay now button that links to your Stripe, PayPal or Square checkout.
